Tasty Sauces, New and A-few Favourite Products

Such a great product and a regular in the shopping basket!  These cook quickly and make an excellent side dish.  Can also be used incorporated in a curry.  I often have the dahl with salad, a wedge of lemon and some pitta bread.  The mix is fine as itself but often add some garlic and/or spices.  Ainsley Harriot has a full range of meal kits and are often found 2 for £2 in Morrisons.  Others include Lime and Chilli Quinoa and rice, Creamy Vegetable Spelt and a Moroccan rice one.  Have tried all bar the spelt and have found them all to be delicious, handy and a versatile addition for meals.

A tomato and chilli paste with a distinct smoky flavour and Middle Eastern spicing.  It is very warming and instantly ups the flavour of sauces etc...  Very nice addition to cous-cous, tomato based soups and the perfect product if making a tagine.  A little bit goes a long way.

Yumo!  Was so happy to find these in my local supermarket.  In a bid to try and make my meal choices more interesting, these provided a pleasant change.  So much nicer than stodgy deep fried spring rolls!  So far have only had these raw.  The pancakes are rehydrated in water, becoming soft and translucent.  Unlimited opportunities but had mine filled with stir fry veg.  I cooked off some very thinly sliced spring onion, courgette, some beansprouts, garlic, ginger, chilli and a little soy.  Placed the veg onto half a pancake at a time and rolled.  Served them with some thinly sliced iceberg and a dip made from ginger, lime, soy, honey and chilli.  Have since had them dipped into sweet chilli, plum and satay sauce too.  These are very light and fresh tasting.

Patak's have introduced a new range of sauces.  These are a trio of sachet stir fry style curries.  So far I have tried the Goan Hot and Sour, which was very nice.  Particularly liked that it was fresher and lighter than a standard curry and closer to the type I would make from scratch.  Look forward to trying the others and it is always welcome to have something new for tea!  These pouches are very handy and more suitable than a jar when cooking for one.  These retail at £1.29 per pack and vary in spiciness the hottest to mildest in the order they are pictured.

This is a really lovely fresh tasting sauce.  One of my favourite snacks is to dip mini poppadoms into it.  It is not overly spicy and not too sweet either, as I've found some chilli sauces to be.  A handy thing to have in the cupboard too for pepping up sauces or to have with salad, aint bad on the side of a curry either.

  1. Great round-up! The Patak's Stir Fry sauces look delicious, I can't believe I've never noticed these before. Just added them to my shopping list!

Thanks also for adding me to your blog list, I'm setting mine up soon and will add yours too.

    1. Thanks for the comment and the add too. They were really nice sauces, though didn't fancy the creamy one quite as much! Be good if other manufacturers made curry sauces in sachets.
